Today was the day. It wasn't even a question anymore. I had already made the decision months back and through countless hours of planning and getting set for this day, I knew it would not only be the best kept secret, but also my favorite question I would ever ask.
After two days of scouting Oregon for just the right spot, Janae met me in Portland, not knowing anything prior to me picking her up. We spent the morning together in Portland, like any other of our adventurous days: Brunch, Coffee and Scenic Views. Upon telling her that there was an amazing viewpoint near Crown Point that I had heard about, we made our way up to a secluded, yet breathtaking ridge that overlooked the Columbia River Gorge. Still believing that this was all spur of the moment and unplanned, Janae and I began to take pictures like any other one of our adventures. She was entirely clueless as to what was about to happen. I then told Janae that I had put together a video for her to watch, which included our favorite song and our entire relationship in a nutshell of videos. I signaled to George and my sister, Corina, to get ready, let Janae finish the video, pulled a little white box out of my jacket pocket and got down on one knee.
A rush of emotion. I didn't know if which knee I got down on mattered, I didn't know if anyone was watching us, I didn't know what time it was or if I had checked into my flight for the next day. Nothing else in that moment mattered; it's still a blur. Looking at the woman I wanted to be with for the rest of my life was more breathtaking than anything I had ever seen. Looking into her eyes and knowing she wanted it just as much as I did, brought me complete and absolute happiness. I couldn't stop smiling and when I finally stopped shaking and took the top off of the white box, I asked Janae Stanfield if she would make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife forever. With tears in her eyes, and emotions flowing faster than we could keep up with, she said yes and became my Forever.

A few weeks ago, Drew surprised me with a random trip to Portland with him and his sister, and I couldn’t have been more excited! Mountains, coffee, and waterfalls are right up our alley so I knew it would be a fun getaway. The week leading up to leaving I got insanely sick and prayed that I would get better by the weekend AND he told me that his sister had a church meeting on Friday night so we would have to adjust our plans and meet her on Saturday. Despite delayed flights and being so exhausted, I finally made it late Friday night.
The morning of, Drew had told me that his sister had missed her flight and wouldn’t be to Portland until later on in the the afternoon, so he had no plans. I’m a planner and this was definitely not what I was expecting, but I made the best of it and we went to brunch and got coffee. He mentioned he saw an insane lookout point called Crown Point on a Portland blog and we should hit it up before we picked his sister up at the airport. I really wanted to see as many waterfalls as possible in the daylight, but I agreed and we found our way up to this insane view. As I was just staring at the view, he saw this point in the distance where two girls were sitting literally on the edge of the mountain, and he told me we should go hike up there. Even though I was wearing heeled booties, I followed his lead again and made it up to the craziest view of the mountains and a huge gorge. Definitely worth that hike. As we were taking photos of each other per usual, he said he made something for me. I was surprised to find he created a video of our entire relationship with videos and snapchats with the background of our favorite song, which of course had me in tears because I knew what was going to happen. After the video, he gave me the biggest hug and kiss, got down on one knee, and asked if I would be his wife forever. To which I responded with “Yes!” with tears running down my face.
After collecting myself, I noticed we were being photographed the entire time! I then saw his sister in the distance who had “missed her flight”, but who had been in Portland since Friday morning to help Drew! Turns out Drew had flown in on Thursday without my knowing so he could find THE spot to propose. Not only was this the biggest surprise of my entire life, it was the most perfect and thought out day I could have ever asked for.
